Rays 2, White Sox 1

Asdrubal Cabrera hit a two-run homer off Chris Sale in the seventh inning, lifting Tampa Bay to a victory over Chicago for a three-game sweep in St. Petersburg, Florida. Sale struck out 12, walked three and hit a batter. He became the first pitcher since Boston’s Pedro Martinez in 2001 to strikeout 12 or more in four straight starts. He allowed two runs and three hits during a 125-pitch outing. After Steven Souza Jr. opened the seventh with a walk, Cabrera hit a high fly into the left-field seats.

Blue Jays 13, Red Sox 5

Toronto won its 11th straight game to tie the team record, routing host Boston as Ryan Goins homered, doubled and drove in five runs. Danny Valencia also homered as the highest-scoring club in the majors completed a sweep at Fenway Park and sent the Red Sox to their season-worst sixth straight loss. This is the fourth time Toronto has won 11 in a row, most recently in 2013. Goins’ three-run homer capped a six-run fourth inning as the Blue Jays roughed up rookie Eduardo Rodriguez. David Ortiz hit a three-run homer for Boston.

Miguel Cabrera once again tagged Corey Kluber and Cleveland, hitting a booming home run and leading Detroit over the visiting Indians. Cabrera hit his 14th homer, a solo drive in the fourth inning that went an estimated 450 feet into the left edge of the batter’s eye. The two-time A.L. MVP is 20 for 35 with five homers in his career against Kluber. The reigning Cy Young Award winner lost his third straight decision. Cabrera had three hits and scored three times. J.D. Juan Lagares hit a go-ahead homer and host New York used a surprising power surge to rally from five runs down, beating Atlanta for its biggest comeback victory of the season. Darrell Ceciliani launched his first major league home run, and Dilson Herrera also had a solo shot in the fourth inning. Travis d’Arnaud’s two-run drive off reliever Brandon Cunniff trimmed the deficit to 8-7 in the fifth, and the Mets took their first lead in the sixth. Pinch-hitter Michael Cuddyer and Curtis Granderson singled before Lagares pulled a ball into the left-field stands.
