In brief: Russell Westbrook’s triple-double streak ends

E’Twaun Moore hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 2.1 seconds remaining and the host Chicago Bulls rallied to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 108-105 on Thursday night, ending Russell Westbrook’s triple-double streak at four.

Westbrook had 43 points, seven assists and eight rebounds.

Portland wins fifth straight: LaMarcus Aldridge had 17 points and 12 rebounds and the host Portland Trail Blazers pulled away in the second half for a 94-75 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.

It was Portland’s fifth straight win but it was costly: Starting guard Wesley Matthews, who was averaging 16.1 points, had to be helped off the court with a left foot injury early in the third quarter. An MRI confirmed Matthews ruptured his left Achilles tendon and is out for the season.

Nicolas Batum added 15 points and a season-high 12 rebounds for Portland, which had four players in double figures despite coming off back-to-back games.

Hawks unveil Wilkins statue: Dominique Wilkins says his statue unveiled by the Atlanta Hawks means “we have history here now.”

The granite sculpture, 13 1/2 feet tall and more than 18,000 pounds, captures Wilkins soaring for a dunk.

Central-leading Predators lose again

NHL: Brock Nelson scored with 6:08 left, helping the New York Islanders rally after blowing a two-goal lead in the third period with a 4-3 win over slumping host Nashville, which lost its season-worst fifth straight game.

The Islanders moved back atop the Metropolitan Division ahead of the idle Rangers and swept the season series with Nashville for the first time. Nashville is second in the Western Conference.

Flames earn rare Boston road win: Sean Monahan scored Calgary’s first goal at Boston in more than eight years, and the Flames earned their first road win against the Bruins since 2003 with a 4-3 shootout victory.

David Schlemko ended the shootout in the eighth round with a series of fakes on Boston goalie Tuukka Rask, who wasn’t ready for the last one as Schlemko tapped the puck into the net to clinch Calgary’s first win at Boston since December 2003.

Wisconsin wins Big 10 regular-season title

MEN’S BASKETBALL: Frank Kaminsky had 25 points on 10-for-15 shooting, Sam Dekker added 20 points and No. 6 Wisconsin (27-3, 15-2) became Big Ten regular-season champions with a 76-63 victory over host Minnesota (17-13, 6-11).

Nigel Hayes had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Badgers, who had at least a tie for first place already wrapped up last weekend. This is their fourth title under coach Bo Ryan and the first in seven years.

Razorbacks clinch second in SEC: Bobby Portis scored 24 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead No. 18 Arkansas (24-6, 13-4) to a 78-74 victory over South Carolina (14-15, 5-12) in Columbia, South Carolina.

With the win, Arkansas clinched second place in the SEC and will be on the opposite side of the league tournament bracket from No. 1 and undefeated Kentucky.

Holmes opens lead, McIlroy struggles

GOLF: J.B. Holmes had a tap-in eagle to go along with eight birdies for a 10-under 62 to build a four-shot lead after the opening round of the Cadillac Championship in Doral, Florida.

If only the game were that easy for Rory McIlroy. The world’s No. 1 player played cautiously, shot 40 on his opening nine holes and had to rally for a 73. He still hasn’t broken par in his three rounds in America this year.

Holmes is back in this World Golf Championship for the first time in five years.

Park, Tseng share lead at HSBC Champions: South Korean Inbee Park and Taiwan’s Yani Tseng both shot 6-under 66 to share the lead after the opening round of the HSBC Women’s Champions in Singapore.

Park’s sixth birdie on the par-5 18th at Sentosa Golf Club left her tied with Tseng, who carded seven birdies against a lone bogey.

Top-ranked Lydia Ko offset two bogeys with six birdies for a 68 and was tied for fourth.

Rookie Hubbard leads Open: PGA Tour rookie Mark Hubbard closed with a birdie in windy conditions for a one-stroke lead in the Puerto Rico Open at Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.

Hubbard made news last month when he proposed to Meaghan McCurley on the 18th hole at Pebble Beach during the first round in the AT&T Pebble National Pro-Am.

Ribeiro allegedly assaulted nanny

MISCELLANY: Mike Ribeiro’s former nanny in Texas is suing the Predators center for assaulting her and his wife for threatening her in 2012.

The lawsuit contains no specific details except the woman alleges Ribeiro caused “body injury.” But her attorney Larry Friedman said that his client was sexually assaulted by Ribeiro, though she did not immediately go to authorities.

The woman is seeking over $1 million in damages along with other relief. The lawsuit was filed July 24 and now is in federal court in Texas.

Victim’s cell pinged along Hernandez’s alleged route: Tracking data shown to the jury in the murder trial of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez indicates the victim’s cellphone pinged along the same route that prosecutors say Hernandez took that night.

The data roughly tracks the route prosecutors say Hernandez took from Odin Lloyd’s home to the industrial park in North Attleborough where Lloyd was found shot to death June 17, 2013.

Murray, Young to face off in Davis Cup: Former Wimbledon and U.S. Open champion Andy Murray will play No. 47-ranked Donald Young in the opening singles of Britain’s Davis Cup match against the United States.

John Isner, the highest-ranked U.S. player at No. 20, will play James Ward in today’s second match in Glasgow.

Orlando City sells out inaugural match: Orlando City officials say the club has reached sellout status for its inaugural Major League Soccer match.

Club officials said that an additional allotment of 2,000 standing room-only tickets have now been sold, pushing the sellout for Sunday’s match against fellow expansion team New York FC to 62,000.
