Hired The Canadian Football League hired Jeffrey Orridge as its new commissioner on Tuesday. The longtime executive recently served as the executive director of CBC Sports. He succeeds Mark Cohon, who stepped down in January after an eight-year run as league commissioner.

Joe Parker, who has served as deputy athletic director at Texas Tech for the last four years, has been named Colorado State’s new athletic director. Parker also has worked at Michigan, where he was an All-American swimmer, Oklahoma and Washington State. Parker replaces Jack Graham, who was fired in August.

Out Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Texas Red is off the road to the Kentucky Derby because a foot abscess has forced him to miss too much training.

• Minnesota Timberwolves president of basketball operations and coach Flip Saunders will not be with the team in Toronto tonight because he is headed to Cleveland to be with his ailing father. The Timberwolves have lost nine of their last 10 games while enduring a litany of injuries.

• Thunder forward Serge Ibaka could miss the rest of the season after having an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee. The news comes while reigning MVP Kevin Durant remains out with pain in his right foot. He had averaged 17.1 points and 9.4 rebounds since the All-Star break and was shooting 55 percent.

Died Former UCLA and NBA player Jack Haley has died. He was 51. Haley played nine seasons in the NBA including a reserve role on the Chicago Bulls’ 1996 championship team. Haley’s family confirmed his death, saying the cause was heart disease. Haley played for the Bulls, New Jersey Nets, Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs. The Bulls drafted the 6-foot-10 forward-center out of UCLA in 1987. He was known for his friendship with eccentric Bulls star Dennis Rodman.

Signed The Los Angeles Clippers have signed guard Nate Robinson to a second 10-day contract. He has averaged 4.0 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists in five games. Robinson, who played for Washington in college, helped Boston reach the 2010 NBA Finals.

Leaving Denmark soccer coach Morten Olsen says he has decided not to renew his contract after next year’s European Championship. Olsen, who has been coaching Denmark since 2000 and took the Danes to four major championships, says “it is time to find my successor.” He is the first Dane to reach 100 team matches both as a player and coach.
