Retired Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has ruled out a return to mixed martial arts, ending three years of speculation about the biggest star in the sport’s history. Lesnar was in training for a UFC return as recently as last week. He finally decided to stick with professional wrestling only in the past two days.

Rebuffed WADA director general David Howman says Lance Armstrong has not done enough to get his life ban reduced and that his latest attempt for rehabilitation is coming too late. Howman said the cyclist did not seize the opportunities he had to come forward with the details of his doping past.

Injured U.S. captain and Seattle Sounders forward Clint Dempsey will miss exhibition games at Denmark and Switzerland because of a strained right hamstring. He is expected to be out two to three weeks.

Extended The Vancouver Canucks signed defenseman Chris Tanev to a five-year contract extension. Tanev has 16 points on two goals and 14 assists this season and is signed through 2021. The 25-year-old’s contract is worth $22.25 million with a salary-cap hit of $4.45 million.

Returning New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist practiced with his teammates Tuesday for the first time since he was forced from the lineup by a neck injury in February. Lundqvist says he felt good and aims to play this weekend when the Rangers have back-to-back games.

Honored Congress awarded its highest civilian honor to golfing great Jack Nicklaus. In a ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda, the House and Senate leadership bestowed the award on Nicklaus, winner of 18 majors that Speaker John Boehner called the “gold standard.”

Re-elected UEFA president Michel Platini was re-elected for a third four-year term. He also retains his FIFA vice presidency for four more years. The former France great opted last year not to stand against Sepp Blatter in the FIFA presidential election on May 29.
