Classes and workshops

Open Figure Drawing Studio – The session will be uninstructed, and will be every Sunday, 5-8 p.m. Artists of all skill levels are welcome. You will be drawing the human figure, using live models. We will alternate male and female models weekly. These ongoing sessions are open to anyone 18 or older (using nude models). Bring your own easel and supplies. East Sprague Art Gallery, 1812 E. Northwest Museum of Art & Culture Portrait Drawing Classes with Henry Stinson: Learn the fundamentals of portrait drawing and the underlying anatomy. Through lectures and demonstrations, Stinson’s approach to portrait drawing will help you gain an understanding of movement and the emotional use of line. In each session, students will be given individual instruction and will work directly from a live model. This workshop is for artists of all levels of ability. Tom Quinn: Painting and Drawing: Learn about the proportions and anatomy of the human head, then move on to portrait drawing with a live model. For high school-age and adult artists. Transforming Found Objects into Unique Painted Portraits : Donna Stroud will lead students as they select imagery for their portraits, preferably photographs. Using a mirror will be encouraged. Call for artists

Spokane Valley Art Council’s Student Art Scholarship Applications from high school seniors in the Central Valley, East Valley and West Valley districts are being accepted through today. Four $1,000 scholarships will be awarded, and one winner will also receive the Lynn Baiter Scholarship of $1,000. Students may submit anything within the visual arts. One-Act Play Festival – The Pend Oreille Players Association is seeking original one-act plays to be produced at the Pend Oreille Playhouse Community Theatre.
