The Lantern Fest Join other revelers bearing lanterns representing their hopes, regrets or transgressions and set them aloft. Each ticket grants you admission, a lantern, a lighter and a sticker. Participants 16 and older are required to register. Each registrant will receive their own lantern as well as some other goodies. Participants 15 years and younger are free of charge and may be spectators, but may not be involved in lantern lighting. Gates open at 3 p.m. Lanterns will fly when the sun goes down. Lilac City Comicon Ninth annual comic book and pop culture show. Formerly known as the Spokane Comicon, this all-ages event features professional guests from the comic industry; vendors selling comics, toys and collectibles; local artists; costume contest; gaming; exclusives; panels; freebies; and more. Guests include Steve Cardena (“Mighty Morphin Power Rangers”), Marvel artists David Marquz (“Spider-Man”) and Scott Koblish (“Deadpool”), and Spokane native Mark Rahner, writer for “Rotten.” Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Spokane Convention Center, 334 W. Upscale Sale Gently used items and treasures to include artwork, jewelry, books, furniture and household décor (including dining sets, patio furniture, mirrors and rugs), china and glass, table linens, and designer and vintage clothing. Floods, Flowers and Feathers Spring Nature Festival Learn about the wildlife, habitats and geology of the channeled scablands landscape. Nature hikes, tours, kids’ activities and informational booths will make for a wonderful spring day outdoors. Some activities require reservations. John Roskelley Presents: Paddling the Columbia After paddling all 1,200 miles of the Columbia River from source to sea, Roskelley published the guidebook “Paddling the Columbia.” Roskelley will share stories from his excursions, plus provide a slide show and presentation. Free admission for members of Lake Pend Oreille Waterkeeper; plus, MickDuff’s will donate $2.50 to LPOW from every pint sold. Sign up for a membership at the door, or purchase online. Fire on the Runway 2015 Fifth annual charity fashion event featuring more than 40 local firefighters and models heating up the runway in outfits from area boutiques. Must be 21 or older to attend.
