Obituary: Johnson, Myrtie Katherine

Age 91

JOHNSON, Myrtie Katherine (Age 91) Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend entered into eternal rest on October 21st at her home.

Myrtie was born on December 12, 1923 to John W. and Gladys Stannard in Rawson, North Dakota.

She graduated from Williston N.D. High School in 1941.

Myrtie attended North Dakota state college for two years.

Myrtie married Sid Johnson on January 22, 1944 at the Norfolk Navy Chapel.

Myrtie then worked at the Navy naval yards.

Sid and Myrtie lived in numerous cities in Montana following WWII and started their family.

In 1959 Myrtie and family moved to Spokane.

She worked at Markham Advertising and later at the Rockwood Clinic as a bookkeeper.

Myrtie was a talented seamstress and created beautiful clothes and costumes for her children and grandchildren.

Family was her greatest joy.

She had unconditional love and acceptance of her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Sid; brothers: Tom, John, and George Stannard; and her sister Joyce Park.

She is survived by her sons: Sid J. Johnson (Cathy), and James T. Johnson (Mary) both of Spokane; and daughters: Kay Pruett (Fred) of Spokane and Sue Busse (Bob) of Auburn, WA; nine grandchildren: Scott Johnson (Christy), Keith Johnson, Eric Pruett (Jessica), Amy Joyce (Derrick), Mary Bacon ( Brandon), Karie Ike ( Tim), Brett Hughes (Lizzi), Matt Hughes, and Julie Johnson; great-grandchildren: Tyler, Emily, Isabella, Cade, Isaac, Samuel, Avery, Alivia, Ethan, Seth, Josiah, Jacob, Hannah, Claire, Michael, Nathan, Lucy, and Jack.

She is also survived by her sister Gladys Stannard and brother Jim Stannard.

We will all miss Myrtie very much.

We have been blessed to know Myrtie and everyone’s lives she touched will be forever richer.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday November 7, at 10:00 am at BALL & DODD FUNERAL HOME 5100 W. WELLESLEY AVE. SPOKANE, WA.
