Volleyball: Gonzaga sweeps San Francisco
Gonzaga claimed its 10th sweep of the season on Saturday, beat San Francisco (16-9, 3-9) in a West Coast Conference match in Spokane. Scores were 25-19, 25-21 and 25-19.
McKayla Ferris had 11 kills and 13 digs and Kaylie Loewen added 11 kills for the Bulldogs (14-10, 5-6), who play Pepperdine in Malibu, California, next Saturday.
Pirates win, secure NCAA tournament bid
Whitworth clinched a spot in the NCAA Division III tournament for the second-straight season after beating Linfield (10-13, 7-7) in a Northwest Conference match in Spokane. Scores were 25-15, 25-15 and 25-22.
Nicole Leonard had 11 kills and Maddye Dinsmore added 32 assists, eight digs and three blocks for the Pirates (18-6, 12-2), who have two remaining regular-season matches — at Willamette on Friday and at Lewis & Clark next Saturday.
Vandals win, earn spot in Big Sky tourney
Katelyn Peterson had 14 kills and nine digs and Idaho secured a berth to the Big Sky Conference tournament with a 25-21, 20-25, 25-20, 25-18 win over Montana (7-17, 3-9) in Moscow, Idaho.
Sarah Sharp added 13 kills and six digs for the Vandals (11-18, 8-4), who have four remaining regular-season matches. They host Southern Utah on Thursday.
