Roundup: Central Valley tops Shadle in volleyball
The Rockwood sisters helped deliver a win for Central Valley as the Bears defeated visiting Shadle Park in four sets on Thursday night in Greater Spokane League volleyball.
Central Valley won 25-16, 18-25, 25-20, 25-18.
Jade Rockwood totaled 42 assists and Meghan Rockwood 33 digs, both game-highs. KeAnn White added 13 kills for the Bears (4-1, 2-0).
Josie Walser led the Highlanders (1-5, 0-2) with 19 assists, and Hailee Etter had 10 kills.
• Dakota Pfister had 11 kills, 11 digs and four blocks as visiting Lewis and Clark (5-2, 2-0) defeated South Hill rival Ferris 22-15, 25-22, 25-20, 25-19.
For Ferris (0-6, 0-2), Summer Reid recorded 19 kills and two aces.
• Katherine McEuen had seven aces and 11 digs as Mead (4-1, 1-1) beat visiting Rogers (25-18, 25-16, 25-10). Sarah Absolonson added 16 assists.
The Pirates (0-6, 0-2) got 15 assists from Mikayla Risinger.
Great Northern
Peyton Stark had 25 assists and three aces and Rylie Pease and KD Skillingstad had nine kills apiece for Cheney (4-1, 3-1) as the Blackhawks defeated visiting Pullman 25-22, 25-20, 25-12, 16-15.
Melissa Lagerveld had 11 kills for the Greyhounds (6-5, 2-2).
• Host Clarkston (2-2, 2-1) defeated East Valley 25-23, 16-25, 25-23, 25-18.
Molly Eggleston had 25 assists, Jaclyn Meyers 16 kills and Kayla Snyder 20 digs. Sydney Frogge recorded 30 assists for EV (2-4, 2-2).
Intermountain
Jacquelyn Mallet had nine kills and Shelbee Hester three aces and Timberlake (6-3, 3-0) took a 25-11, 25-6, 25-22 victory over visiting Priest River.
Catherine Gamma had 27 digs for Priest River (1-6, 0-3).
Girls soccer
Hannah Burland totaled two goals and an assist as visiting East Valley (5-2, 3-1) defeated Clarkston 3-1 in a game that matched the Great Northern League’s second-place teams. Maddie Bastin also scored for the Knights.
Taylen Wohl scored for the Bantams (3-2, 2-2).
• Pullman (3-4, 1-3) defeated host Cheney (1-6, 0-4), winning a shootout 3-0. Annmari Petrino, Jocelyn Gross and Kyra Shearwood scored for Pullman. Becca Wickard made nine saves for Pullman.
Boys soccer
Cody Bentley had a hat trick and Thomas Hauck headed in two corner kicks as Timberlake (4-1, 3-0) scored a 6-1 victory over the Priest River Spartans (3-4, 1-2) in an Intermountain League match.
Timberlake had 18 shots on goal to Priest River’s 15. Alex Amour had the Spartans’ lone goal off an assist from Tyler Jones.
