Around the nation: Florida rallies to beat Tennessee

Freshman Antonio Callaway’s 63-yard touchdown reception with 1:26 remaining gave Florida an 11th consecutive win against Southeastern Conference rival Tennessee, 28-27 on Saturday in Gainsville, Florida.

Callaway ran a deep curl on a fourth-and-14 play, caught the pass from Will Grier, turned outside and beat three defenders to the end zone. Fellow receiver Demarcus Robinson threw a key block down the field that allowed Callaway to score.

The Gators (4-0, 2-0 SEC) started celebrating wildly. The Volunteers (2-2, 0-1) were stunned.

Still, Tennessee had one final chance. Josh Dobbs, who led the Vols in passing, rushing and receiving, moved them into field-goal range. But Aaron Medley missed twice from 55 yards, once just after Florida coach Jim McElwain called timeout and then again – this time just barely.

His second kick missed the right upright by less than a foot.

Navy 28, UConn 18: Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds ran 28 times for 142 yards and three touchdowns and threw for another as Navy (3-0) won at UConn (2-2).

Reynolds had touchdown runs of 10, 4 and 10 yards to give him 73 for his career, second in NCAA history behind former Wisconsin star Monte Ball, who ran for 77.

Army 58, Eastern Michigan 36: At Ypsilanti, Michigan, Joe Walker and Aaron Kemper had long touchdown runs and Army defeated Eastern Michigan (1-3).

Walker’s 63-yard run early in the game gave the Black Knights (1-3) the lead for good and Kemper added a 56-yard scoring run in the second quarter to help Army lead 29-17 at the half.

Rutgers 27, Kansas 14: Chris Laviano threw two touchdowns and Josh Hicks ran for 113 yards and two more scores as embattled Rutgers and defeated Kansas in Piscataway, New Jersey, handing the Jayhawks (0-3) their 34th straight loss away from Lawrence.

It was the first win for the Scarlet Knights (2-2) since coach Kyle Flood was suspended for three games on Sept. 16 for contacting a faculty member about a player’s grade.

Boston College 17, Northern Illinois 14: Troy Flutie, the nephew of 1984 Heisman Trophy winner Doug Flutie, threw a touchdown pass in his first career start and Jon Hilliman had a tiebreaking 21-yard scoring run to lift Boston College (3-1) over Northern Illinois (2-2) in Boston.

Louisiana Tech 27, Florida International 17: Kenneth Dixon rushed for two touchdowns and hauled in a pass for another to lead (2-2, 1-1 C-USA) over visiting Florida International (2-2, 0-1) in Roston, Louisiana.

Louisville 45, Samford 3: Lamar Jackson threw one touchdown pass and ran for two more scores to lead host Louisville (1-3) over Sanford (2-2) in Louisville, Kentucky.
