Three people injured after falling from a downtown Coeur d’Alene rooftop Saturday night had been sitting on the edge of the building with their feet hanging over the sidewalk below.

“The decorative cap of the building they were sitting on gave way and all three of the young adults fell to the sidewalk,” a distance of about 30 feet, according to a Coeur d’Alene Police patrol supervisor’s log.

One male and two females were injured in the fall, about 9:45 p.m., at 424 E. Sherman Ave., just west of Cricket’s Restaurant and Oyster Bar.

It wasn’t clear how the three were able to gain access to the roof of the building, which includes retail shops on the ground floor.

“All three were transported (to Kootenai Health) via ambulance because of injuries,” the police log states. “The females were injured pretty severely.”

The names of the three were not released and their current conditions aren’t available.

An inspector from the Coeur d’Alene Building Services Department checked the scene Monday and determined there is no risk to public safety.
