7 Nights Out: A look at what’s on deck this week

1. Blue Waters Bluegrass Festival

The 15th annual event features three days of bluegrass performances, workshops and jamming. The lineup features Chatham County Line, Front Country, Jody Stecher and Kate Brislin, Slocan Ramblers, Farmstrong, The Lowest Pair, The Barn Owls, No Going Back, and BlueStreak. Onsite camping is available for weekend attendees, and single-day passes are available.

When: 6-10 p.m. Friday, 1-10 p.m. Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday

Where: Waterfront Park, 1386 S. Lefevre St., Medical Lake

Cost: $20 Friday, $35 Saturday, $25 Sunday, $50 for all three days; children 12 and younger admitted free

2. Culture Club with Berlin and English Beat

Iconic ’80s band behind “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me,” “Time (Clock of the Heart),” “Karma Chameleon” and “I’ll Tumble 4 Ya” is on the road with its original lineup: Boy George, Mikey Craig, Jon Moss and Roy Hay. Joining them are Berlin, (“The Metro,” “Sex (I’m A…),” “No More Words” and “Take My Breath Away”) and ska pioneers the English Beat (“Save It for Later,” “I Confess”).

3. Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

This long-running band lands at the Festival at Sandpoint as part of its 50th Anniversary Tour. With more than 30 albums to its credit, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band continues its love of traditional American music. Opening will be Luke Bell with his classic honky-tonk music.

4. Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals

Grammy-winning hitmakers headline the Festival at Sandpoint’s second Super Saturday dance show. A singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Harper plays an eclectic mix of blues, folk, soul, reggae and rock music on hits such as “Diamonds on the Inside,” “Burn One Down,” “Steal My Kisses” and the latest, “Pink Balloon.” With Tom Freund and Sadie Waggoner.

5. ‘The Little Mermaid’

Ariel, the daughter of King Triton, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above and bargains with the evil sea witch to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends to restore order in the ocean’s depths. Presented by Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre.

When: Continues through Aug. 28; performances are Thursdays-Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.; Sundays at 2 p.m.

6. Band of Horses

Seattle-born, South Carolina-based rock band returns to the Inland Northwest in support of the June release “Why Are You OK?”

7. Big & Rich

Country music duo Big & Rich released their first studio album, “Horse of a Different Color,” in 2004, and it produced four Top 40 country hits. They’ve since recorded four more albums, including the most recent, 2014’s “Gravity.” Joining the duo on tour is country artist Gary Allan, who started playing honky tonks with his father at age 13. He went on to release nine studio albums and score the hits “Man to Man,” “Tough Little Boys,” “Her Man” and “Best I Ever Had.”
