Home explosion that killed 2 caused by propane leak

Associated Press

PORT ORCHARD, Wash. – The Kitsap County fire marshal says a propane leak caused the powerful home explosion that killed two people in Port Orchard.

The Kitsap Sun reported the gas filled the residence and underneath it on Tuesday morning. The cause of ignition is still unknown.

The explosion killed William and Maria McDonald, leveled their triple-wide manufactured home and strewed debris throughout the 2.5-acre property. It registered at earthquake monitoring stations across central and south Puget Sound and damaged nearby buildings, including a school.
