GSL girls: Top-ranked Central Valley improves to 13-0
The Central Valley girls basketball team continues to improve.
Freshman Mady Simmelink led the No. 1-ranked Bears (13-0, 11-0) to a 73-36 win over the visiting Gonzaga Prep Bullpups in Greater Spokane League play Friday.
Lexie Hull and Katie Hawkins added 16 and 12 points, respectively, for CV.
The Bears got out to a 27-6 lead after the first period and increased it to 47-18 by halftime.
CV held G-Prep’s leading scorer, Tayler Drynan, to three points. Mia Scelfo led the Bullpups (5-8, 5-6) with nine.
University 66, Ferris 52: The visiting Titans (8-5, 8-3) opened a 35-19 lead by halftime over the Saxons (4-9, 4-8). The Titans are in sole possession of third place. Kaitlin Pannell and Brooke Bailey scored season highs of 27 and 21 points, respectively. Abby Muelheim led Ferris with 21.
Mead 67, North Central 46: By halftime, the Panthers (7-5, 7-4) had a 20-point lead over the visiting Indians (4-9, 4-7). Four Panthers reached double figures. They were Payton Douglass (13), Aaliyah Pauling (12), Sydney Hellman (12) and Cheris Brown (11). Megan Dean led NC with 14.
Lewis and Clark 67, Shadle Park 30: The Tigers (10-3, 10-1) led 35-12 at halftime over the visiting Highlanders (1-12, 1-10). Riley Lupfer led the Tigers with 20 points, including 6-of-7 shooting from 3-point range and six assists. Taylor Cunningham had 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Abby Bauerfeind led the Highlanders with 11 points.
Mt. Spokane 69, Rogers 39: Jordan Smith scored 25 points, Megan Henry had 13 and the visiting Wildcats (8-5, 6-5) topped the Pirates (0-12, 0-11). Akon Aleu led Rogers with 11.
