1. “Paintings by John Friel” Mondays-Fridays, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. continuing through Aug. 12, Washington State University, Fine Arts Gallery II, Pullman. 3. Prism Tats 8 p.m. Friday, the Bartlett, 228 W. Sprague Ave. Prism Tats, the solo vehicle for Garett van der Spek, makes music described by allmusic.com as “barbed, electro-garage clamor” with plenty of hooks. The South African musician plays Spokane in support of his debut eponymous LP, a day ahead of his show at Seattle’s Capitol Hill Block Party. The Smokes and Bonefly open. (509) 747-2174. 4. Salish Stories and Songs 4 p.m. Monday, Shadle Library, 2111 W. Wellesley Ave. Students from the Salish School of Spokane will present a history of the Salish languages of the Spokane area and efforts to preserve and revitalize those languages.
