College baseball: Eric Gutierrez hit a two-run homer, Texas Tech picked up a huge insurance run by way of two errors on the same play in the ninth, and the Red Raiders eliminated Florida 3-2 at the College World Series on Tuesday in Omaha, Nebraska.

It was a stunning early exit for the No. 1 national seed, which made things interesting in the bottom of the ninth after Peter Alonso’s two-run homer made it a one-run game. The game ended when Jonathan India tried to stretch a single into a double and was thrown out by left fielder Tyler Neslony.

The fifth-seeded Red Raiders (47-19) will play Thursday against the loser of the Tuesday night game between TCU and Coastal Carolina. The Gators (52-16) went 0-2 at the CWS.

Davis Martin (10-1) and Hayden Howard combined to hold Florida to six hits. Florida starter Alex Faedo (13-3) cruised until the fourth inning when Gutierrez went deep.

TCU advances: TCU freshman star Luken Baker went 3 for 3 with a home run, and the Horned Frogs took control of their College World Series bracket with a 6-1 victory over Coastal Carolina in Omaha, Nebraska.

The Frogs (49-16) have won their first two CWS games for the first time in four appearances and move to Friday’s Bracket 2 final. They’ll play the winner of a Thursday elimination game between Coastal Carolina and Texas Tech. A win in that game would put them in the best-of-three finals for the first time.

The Chanticleers (50-17), who beat No. 1 national seed Florida 2-1 in their first-ever CWS game on Sunday, pushed across a run in the sixth inning but otherwise didn’t do much against Brian Howard and Ryan Burnett.

Montgomery’s late 3 keeps Lynx perfect

WNBA: Renee Montgomery’s 3-pointer with 2.9 seconds left lifted the Minnesota Lynx to a 72-69 win over the host Los Angeles Sparks in a matchup of unbeaten teams.

With the game tied, Lindsay Whalen drove to the basket and found Montgomery open in the corner for the game-winner.

The Sparks had one last chance, but Kristi Toliver’s shot off an intentionally missed free throw by Candace Parker came just after the buzzer. It would have only been a two-pointer.

The Lynx (13-0), who top the AP power poll, had tied the game at 69 on Sylvia Fowles’ layup with 28 seconds left. They rallied without Maya Moore, who injured her left thigh in the fourth quarter.

This was the first matchup of two unbeaten teams from the WNBA, NBA, NFL, MLB or NHL with each squad having at least 10 wins with no losses and no ties according to Elias.

Delle Donne lifts Sky: Elena Delle Donne scored 19 of her 23 points in the second half and the Chicago Sky beat the San Antonio Stars 81-75 in Rosemont, Illinois, to end a three-game losing streak.

Kayla McBride hit a baseline jumper to pull San Antonio to 73-71 with 1:57 left. But Imani Boyette grabbed offensive rebounds on consecutive Chicago possessions and her three-point play extended the Sky’s lead to 78-73 with 1:07 left.

Wings top Mercury: Skylar Diggins scored 12 of her 20 points in the decisive third quarter, Glory Johnson had 16 points with 10 rebounds and the Dallas Wings beat the Phoenix Mercury in Arlington, Texas, for the second time in four days, 100-90.

Diggins put the Wings ahead for good with a tiebreaking 3-pointer just more than 2 minutes after halftime, then added a jumper and a running layup soon after that for a 57-50 lead.

Croatia stuns two- time champion Spain

Soccer: Spain’s 12-year unbeaten run at the European Championship ended when Croatia came from behind to stun the two-time champion in Bordeaux, France.

The 2-1 defeat relegated La Roja into second place in Group D and set up a mouthwatering round of 16 game between Spain and Italy, a repeat of the final four years ago. Ivan Perisic’s 87th minute winner also ended Spain’s unbeaten run at the tournament that stretched all the way back to 2004.

A draw would have been enough for Spain to secure first place in the group and a potentially easier second round game.

Now it will have to face the Italians at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis on Monday – a repeat of the 2012 final that Spain won 4-0.

Germany tops Euro 2016 group: Germany pounded Northern Ireland in Paris but could only manage a 1-0 win that still ensured the world champion topped its group at the European Championshipin and advanced to the round of 16.

Defied by the woodwork and standout Northern Ireland goalkeeper Michael McGovern, Germany had only Mario Gomez’s 30th-minute goal to show for its dominance.

Turkey bounces back, beats Czech Republic: Turkey rebounded from two losses at the European Championship to beat the Czech Republic 2-0 in Lens, France, and keep alive its chances of reaching the knockout stages from Group D.

With their team having failed to score in its defeats to Spain and Croatia, some Turkish fans celebrated with firecrackers and flares that landed on the pitch after the second goal at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.

Turkey must now wait until the final group matches are played on Wednesday to discover whether it can advance as one of the four best third-place teams.

Blaszczykowski secures Poland in last 16: Poland cemented its first appearance in the tournament’s knockout stage with a 1-0 win in Marseille, France, against already eliminated Group C opponent Ukraine.

Usually so clinical for Bayern Munich, and the top scorer in Euro 2016 qualifying with 13 goals, Robert Lewandowski not only failed to find the net in Poland’s three group-stage matches, he also failed to have a single shot on target.

Second-half substitute Jakub Blaszczykowski struck the winner for Poland in the 54th minute. Poland qualified second from the group behind Germany. Both finished with seven points, but Germany had a superior goal difference.

Vesnina beats third-seed Bencic

Tennis: Defending champion and third seed Belinda Bencic of Switzerland was beaten 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) in the second round of the Eastbourne International in Eastbourne, England, by 2013 winner Elena Vesnina of Russia.

Top seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland advanced when Mirjana Lucic-Baroni retired with illness as Radwanska led 6-4, 2-1, but second seeded Italian Roberta Vinci was also upset 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 by another Russian former champion, Ekaterina Makarova.

Former top-ranked junior Kristina Mladenovic of France upset fourth-seeded Swiss Timea Bacsinszky 6-1, 7-5, and Russian sixth seed Svetlana Kuznetsova and eighth seed Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain were also beaten.
