92-year-old woman mauled by dogs dies

Associated Press

SEATTLE – Hospital officials say a 92-year-old Washington woman has died after she was mauled by dogs.

KIRO-TV reported Gladys Alexander was attacked late Sunday when she entered her neighbor’s home in Thurston County. Officials say it wasn’t unusual for her to visit while the neighbor was out.

Alexander was mauled by up to four dogs when she entered. Only one dog belonged to the homeowner, but she was dog-sitting for the others.

The homeowner returned during the attack. She was able to remove the dogs and call 911.

Officials say the dogs are all pitbull mixes. They have been taken into quarantine by animal services and the homeowner has agreed to have her dog euthanized.

The woman will need consent of her daughter, who is incarcerated, to euthanize the others.
