State 1A/1B baseball: Colton wins third State 1B title in five years
Brady Chadwick pitched a complete-game four-hitter Saturday as Colton won its third State 1B title in five seasons by defeating Evergreen Lutheran 8-1 at Wheeler Field in Centralia.
Chadwick allowed one earned run, striking out 12 and walking three.
Carter Dahmen finished 2 for 3 with one run and three runs batted in for the Wildcats (22-3). Peter Schultheis was also 2 for 3, with one run and two RBIs.
Schultheis had an RBI single during a two-run third that gave Colton a 3-0 lead. Dahmen’s two-run single in the fourth boosted the advantage to 5-0.
State 1A
JT Neely had two hits and an RBI, Desmond Parisotto pitched five solid innings and Freeman (22-4) beat Overlake/Bear Creek 3-2 in eight innings for third place at County Stadium in Yakima.
Neely led off the game with a double and scored on McKabe Cottrell’s sacrifice fly. Sebastian Hyta added a run in the third when he led off with a single and took advantage of mistakes by Overlake/Bear Creek (22-5) to move around the bases.
Simon Rooney picked up the win after pitching the final three innings in relief, escaping a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the eighth to end the game.
