Malone scores winner in 2OT, has hat trick in Spokane Braves’ 6-5 victory
Paxton Malone scored the winning goal at 2:35 of double overtime to complete a hat trick in the Spokane Braves’ 6-5 KIJHL victory over the Grand Forks Border Bruins on Sunday at Eagles Ice-A-Rena.
Malone tied the game at 5-all on a power play at 8:25 of the third period and scored the Braves’ first goal at 2:55 of the first period.
The Braves (5-15-0-0-0, 10) trailed 3-1 when Carter Jones, Nash Tyson and Niko Corsaro scored consecutive goals to take the lead before the Border Bruins (8-6-2-0-2 20) tied it at 4-4 later in the period. Grand Forks took lead at 5-4 in the third before Malone’s tying score.
Luke Gallagher had three assists for Spokane and Jones also had a three-point game, adding two assists to his goal. JJ Pichette made 46 saves for the Braves.
