1. Spokane Symphony: Sounds of Scandinavia

Pavel Baleff returns as guest conductor, leading the orchestra through works from Scandinavian composers, including Edward Grieg’s piano concerto, Niels Wilhelm Gade’s “Hamlet,” and Carl Nielsen’s Symphony No. 4, “The Inextinguishable.” With guest pianist Fei-Fei Dong, a winner of the 2014 CAG Victor Elmaleh Competition and a top six finalist at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

2. “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical”

. The true story of King’s rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to recording her landmark album, “Tapestry.” Part of the 2016-17 Best of Broadway season.

When: Continues through Sunday; 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 6:30 p.m. Sunday, with matinees at 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.

3. Olivia Newton John

Newton-John is a four-time Grammy award winner who has sold an estimated 100 million records. She has five No. 1 and 10 top 10 Billboard Hot 100 singles, including “I Honestly Love You,” “Physical,” “Magic” and “Have You Never Been Mellow.” Oh, and there’s that little film called “Grease.”

4. Escape the Fate and Nonpoint

5. 21st Annual Fall Folk Festival

Presented by the Spokane Folklore Society. Featuring eight stages and 100 performances of traditional and ethnic dance and music on eight stages and a live radio show with KPBX, music and dance workshops from various ethnic traditions, crafts for children, storytelling, traditional New England contradance and jamming. Traditional crafts, baked goods and meals for purchase.

6. “First Date”

Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre revives its production of this lighthearted musical comedy. Cody Bray and Aubrey Shimek Davis return as Aaron, who has never gone out with a stranger, and serial blind-dater Casey.

7. ‘Lennon: Through a Glass Onion’

Tribute show celebrates the music and talent of John Lennon. Part concert and part biography, the show features 31 of his iconic songs, from the Beatles’ tracks “Revolution,” “Strawberry Fields Forever” and “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,” to the solo hits “Woman,” “Imagine” and “Working Class Hero.”
