A 76-year-old driver received minor injuries Monday afternoon when a semitruck swerved in front of him on U.S. Highway 195, causing a collision about four miles north of Colfax.

And he got a ticket for not wearing a seat belt.

The Washington State Patrol reported in a news release that the semitruck was traveling north and swerved to avoid a vehicle stopped in a turn lane at about 1 p.m. The semi ran into a ditch and was blocking the highway.

A pickup truck driven by Paul D. Bilderback crashed into the semi. He was issued a seat belt citation and taken to Whitman Community Hospital in Colfax, where he lives.

The semitruck driver, Christopher L. DeWolf, 27, of Athol, Idaho, was not injured and is expected to face a charge of second-degree negligent driving, WSP said.
