Mariners pregame: Jean Segura to DL; lineups and starter matchup

The Seattle Mariners put shortstop Jean Segura on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring and selected infielder Mike Freeman from AAA Tacoma.
To make room for Freeman on the 40-man roster, LHP Paul Fry was designated for assignment. The Mariners have seven days to trade, release or outright Fry to the minors.
Segura, 27, was injured diving back into first base trying (unsuccessfully) to avoid a line-drive double play against Houston. He has been one of the Mariners most consistent offensive threats early this season. In eight games, he is hitting .313 with a homer, three RBIs and three stolen bases.
Tyler Motter will likely take the bulk of playing time at short while Segura is on the mend.
Freeman, 29, hit .333 (4 for 12) three games with Tacoma this season. He was removed from the 40-man roster during spring training when the club acquired RHP Chase De Jong from the Dodgers. In 13 games with Seattle last season, he hit .385 after being acquired off waivers from Arizona.
