Eastern Washington football plans longer scrimmage for Saturday
Eastern Washington’s scrimmage on Saturday will be longer and more comprehensive than last week’s 61-play affair, coach Aaron Best said.
The Eagles expect to run about 80 plays, with a full complement of special teams players “because we want the kickers to face a little bit of heat,” Best said.
Looking back at last week’s scrimmage, Best lamented the Eagles’ three turnovers but didn’t place the entire blame on the offense.
“The defense made some great plays, and they’re ballplayers too,” Best said.
This weekend, Best hopes to see better production on first down. That will allow more options on second and third down, including more play action, screen passes and run-pass option plays.
The scrimmage will begin at about 10:45 a.m. at Roos Field and is open to the public.
