Area boys: Tanner Groves scores 27 points as Shadle Park tops North Central in rivalry game

Tanner Groves scored 27 points and Shadle Park (16-3, 14-3) topped visiting North Central (3-16, 3-14) 66-53 in the Greater Spokane League schools’ annual rivalry game at the Spokane Arena on Wednesday.

Shadle moves 1 1/2 games ahead of third-place Ferris. The Highlanders have one game to play, on Saturday against Central Valley, while Ferris still plays twice. The teams split games earlier this season.

Andreas Brown added 16 points and Markeith Brown had 11 for the Highlanders, who used a 28-11 run in the third quarter to wipe out a 28-19 halftime deficit.

Rashawn Lemery paced North Central with 19 points, Leon Sayers had 11 and Isaiah Lockett added 10.

Genesis Prep 61, Wallace 47: The visiting Jaguars (13-4, 8-0), ranked third in Idaho state 1A, Division II, handled the Miners (8-7, 4-2) in North Star League action.

Erik Brackebusch scored 14 points and Matt Farkas had 10 to lead Wallace.

Nonleague

Lewiston 76, Moscow 42: Trystan Bradley scored 25 points and the Bengals (10-6) routed the visiting Bears (6-8).

Braeden Wilson added 12 points for Lewiston, which used a 19-6 third quarter to set up a big lead and a 16-8 run in the fourth to extend the lead.

Glen Gosse led Moscow with 13 points, nine on 3-pointers.

St. Maries 61, Timberlake 40: Jacob Sieler scored 14 points, Brady Martin added 12 and the Lumberjacks (9-4) defeated the visiting Tigers (7-5).

Kiefer Gibson grabbed 12 rebounds with four points and seven assists for St. Maries, ranked fifth in Idaho state 2A in this week’s media poll. The Lumberjacks pulled away with a 17-9 third-quarter run.

Carter Ostler carried Timberlake with 11 points.
