GSL boys: Reece Van Lierop lifts Ferris late in overtime over Lewis and Clark

Reece Van Lierop hit a 3-pointer and added a pair of free throws late in overtime to lift visiting Ferris (15-4, 13-4) past Lewis and Clark (11-8, 10-7) 48-47 on Thursday in Greater Spokane League play.

Ferris, ranked ninth entering play in state 4A WIAA RPI ratings, leads Central Valley by one game with one to play for the No 2 seed in the 4A subregional and right to host a tourney opener next week.

Ferris plays Rogers (2-17, 2-15) with Central Valley faces second-place Shadle Park (16-3, 14-3). CV holds the tiebreaker between the two with a pair of wins over the Saxons.

Shamrock Campbell led the Ferris with 13 points while Van Lierop finished with 11.

Naje Smith led Lewis and Clark with 21 points, while Cameron Underwood added 11.

Gonzaga Prep 66, Mead 47: Kea Vargas scored 11 of his 14 points in the second half to lead the visiting Bullpups (18-1, 16-1) over the Panthers (2-17, 0-17).

Vargas made four 3-pointers while Anton Watson added 12 points for G-Prep, first in league and ranked second in state 4A entering play.

Mead was led by Mason Tullis with 10 points.

Central Valley 63, Mt. Spokane 35: Zach Stocker poured in six 3-pointers to finish with 22 points and the visiting Bears (13-5, 11-5) pulled away from the Wildcats (8-10, 6-10).

Ryan Rehkow chipped in 10 points for the Bears, who blew open a two-point game at the half with a 24-5 burst in the third quarter.

Phalon Maddox paced the Wildcats with 16 points.

University 69, Rogers 52: Tanner Christensen dominated the paint with 23 points and nine rebounds and the visiting Titans (9-10, 9-8) outscored the Pirates (2-17, 2-15).

Christensen finished 8 of 11 from the floor and 5 of 5 from the line, while Boston Tacke added 13 points. U-Hi used an 18-10 second-quarter run to lead 30-19 at intermission and held off Rogers down the stretch.

For Rogers, Maks Babich went 8 for 13 from the field and 5 of 5 from the line for 23 points.
