Architecture

Bill Hamlin, Ned Warnick and Brandon Wilm have been promoted to the position of Principal at Design West Architects, P.A. Hamlin has been at the firm 22 years and specializes in planning and design of educational facilities and modernizing existing buildings. Warnick specializes in design of higher education facilities and has been at Design West for 20 years. Wilm has been at the firm for 15 years and focuses on K-12 schools and community projects.

Business

The Inland Northwest Business Travel Association has announced its new officers and board for 2017. The officers are: President Shannon Long of Visit Spokane; Vice President Donna Wolf of Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories; Secretary J.J. Giachetti of Umpqua Bank; Treasurer Sandy Hoveskeland of Northwest Farm Credit Services; and Past President Gerri Vance of Purcell Systems. The board includes: Margrett Gustafson of DoubleTree by Hilton Spokane City Center; Jason Haws of Enterprise Holdings; Jean Berg of Ramada Spokane Airport; Joy Jelsing of Enduris; and Bethany Anderson of Red Lion River Inn.

Construction

Lori Ott has been hired by Wilbert Precast Inc. Ott has 25 years of office management, business development, marketing coordination and customer service. She joins Wilbert as marketing coordinator.

Education

The University District has announced the 2017 University District Development Association, University District Public Development Authority board of directors and the 2017 district board officers. The new directors are: Elaine Couture, RN, BSN, MBA, Providence Health Care chief executive as director, at large; Lou Gust, vice president of electricity sales for Itron as director, at large; Latisha Hill, senior vice president of Avista Development as director, large business/property owner; and Tom Quigley, chairman of Kiemle & Hagood Co. as director, real estate. The new board officers for 2017 are: Karl Otterstrom, Spokane Transit Authority as chair; Kim Pearman-Gillman, McKinstry as vice chair and past chair; and Tom Johnson, Spokane Teachers Credit Union as secretary and treasurer.

Finance

Spokane’s RBC Wealth Management office has promoted Karen I. English to vice president–financial advisor from associate vice president–financial advisor.

Jared J. Karstetter, Stanton Webb and Garth T. Holbert, all senior vice presidents–financial advisors, were recently named to RBC Wealth Management’s President’s Council, an annual award recognizing employees for outstanding performance and professional growth and demonstrating leadership in client service.

Senior Vice President– Financial Advisor Kyle J. Weir has been named to RBC Wealth Management’s Director’s Council, recognizing employees for outstanding performance and professional growth, as well as demonstrating leadership in client service.

Ryan Clements, an RBC Wealth Management financial adviser, was selected to be on the firm’s Consulting Group, a group of advisers recognized for their success in building consultative, fee-based business. Clements has been in the Consulting Group for 14 consecutive years.

Funeral services

Dave Ittner has been named president of Fairmount Holdings Inc., a division of Fairmount Memorial Association. Ittner has been with Fairmount, a nonprofit organization that owns seven cemeteries in Spokane and Spokane Valley, for 14 years, most recently as COO.

Health care

Providence Health Care Foundation has elected new members and officers to its board of directors. They are Leanne Ager, M.D., community volunteer; David Meyer, Avista; Stuart Prey, Prime Real Estate Group; Dave Peden, Coffman Engineers as president; Karla Greer, Voya Financial Advisors as vice president; Deanna Hildenbrand, Numerica Credit Union as secretary; and Helen Andrus, Providence Health Care as treasurer.

Law

Winston & Cashatt announced Darren Digiacinto has joined the firm, focusing on bankruptcy, creditor/debtor rights, commercial litigation and employment law litigation. Digiacinto has been a judicial clerk at the Washington State Court of Appeals as well as a partner at a mid-sized law firm in Spokane.

Reid Johnson has been hired by Lukins & Annis, PS, as an associate attorney. He previously worked at Lee & Hayes and practices commercial litigation, intellectual property and real estate litigation. The firm also hired Kevin P. Tavares after a year of working in Seattle. His areas of focus include business and real estate transactions.

Senior services

Chris Bafus, Beth Bornhoft, Todd Maddock and Patricia Nash were recently appointed to the board of Rockwood Retirement Communities. Bafus is a financial planner for Pillar Financial Group. Bornhoft is a retired loan servicing manager. Maddock is a resident at Rockwood South Hill and a retired port commissioner, and Nash is retired from Group Health. Additionally, John Barber has been named the new board chairman and Camilla Mounts as vice chair. Both have been trustees since 2013. Barber is a retired engineer who worked at NASA and for several transportation administrations. Mounts works as a Realtor and has also worked in long term care for 25 years.

Transportation

Dave Alford from R&D Towing has received the American Towman ACE Award for achievement in service performance. Nomination guidelines for the award include: the highest percentage of calls when the estimated time of arrival is achieved, consistency in response time, written appreciation from customers and percentage of calls serviced, reflecting reliability and professionalism. ACE Award recipients rank in the top 1 percent of the towing industry’s service providers.
