Eastern Washington announces 2017 football schedule

New coach Aaron Best will be coming full circle when he takes the Eastern Washington football team to Lubbock, Texas, for the season opener on Sept. 3.

Best’s debut will come against the same team predecessor Beau Baldwin made his EWU head coaching debut against back on Aug. 30, 2008.

That 49-24 loss in also marked Best’s first game as Eagle offensive line coach under Baldwin.

The Texas Tech game kicks off an 11-schedule officially announced on Wednesday. Most of the dates are unchanged from previous releases.

The Eagles then host five-time NCAA Football Championship Subdivision Champion North Dakota State at 1 p.m. on Sept. 9 at Roos Field in the second game of a home-and-home series against the Bison.

A week later, Eastern completes nonconference play in New York, against Fordham. Kickoff will be at 10 a.m. Pacific Time.

Other game times will be announced later.

Eastern opens Big Sky Conference play on the road at Montana on Sept. 23 before playing its home conference opener on Sept. 30 against Sacramento State.
