Mikayla Ferenz suffers off night and Idaho women fall to Montana State
Peyton Ferris scored 24 points and visiting Montana State (14-5, 7-2) topped Idaho (9-10, 4-4) 66-61 on Thursday in Moscow in Big Sky play.
Idaho’s Mikayla Ferenz suffered a rare off night. Ferenz, who scored 48 points last time out against Northern Arizona on Saturday and had 107 points in her previous four games, went 2 of 16 from the field and finished with eight points.
The teams were tied at 58 after three quarters. Idaho led by three on McCorkell’s 3-pointer with 6:58 left, but Montana State took over with a 9-0 run, with Ferris picking up a pair of buckets in the paint and a free throw. Ferris nailed another jumper in the paint with 2:22 left which put MSU up by seven.
Geraldine McCorkell led Idaho with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Pierce Taylor added 12 points. Idaho shot 37.5 percent, including 6 of 23 from beyond the arc.
Riley Nordgaard scored 15 points and Hannah Caudill added 12 for Montana State.
