Police are looking for an armed man who carjacked a woman in northwestern Spokane early Thursday morning.

The woman was alone in her car and parked near the intersection of Grace Avenue and Hemlock Street when at about 5:30 a.m. a knife-wielding man forced her out and attempted to drive away, said Officer John O’Brien, spokesman for the Spokane Police Department.

The man left the car a few blocks away, near the intersection of Fairview Avenue and Nettleton Street, and fled, O’Brien said. Police set up a perimeter and called in a K9 unit but were unable to locate him.

A description of the man was not immediately available.

The woman was not injured.
