Investigation shows Airman found dead on Fairchild Air Force Base committed suicide

The Spokane County Medical Examiner has ruled that the Airman who was found dead in his dorm room at Fairchild Air Force Base on Tuesday committed suicide, according to the U.S. Air Force.

The 20-year-old native of West Branch, Michigan, had served in the Air Force since June 2016. He was assigned to the communications squadron of the 92nd Air Refueling Wing.

Col. Ryan Samuelson, the refueling wing commander, released a statement calling him a “great Airman.”

“We are doing all we can to support the family members, teammates and loved ones impacted by this loss,” Samuelson said.
