WSU, EWU accept postseason invitations

The Washington State Cougars and Eastern Washington Eagles women both garnered spots in postseason tournaments, it was announced on Monday.

The Cougars (12-19) will travel to Provo, Utah, to take on the BYU Cougars on Thursday in the Women’s NIT. The time is yet to be determined.

The Cougars earned the Pac-12’s automatic bid into the WNIT by virtue of its seventh-place finish in the conference.

Pac-12 members Utah and Colorado also earned spots in the tournament.

For the third time in the past five seasons, the Eagles (18-13) will play in a postseason tourney.

Eastern accepted a bid to play in the Women’s Basketball Invitational and will open on the road at Texas State in San Marcos, Texas, on Thursday at 3 p.m.

The Eagles have never played Texas State and it’s their first time in the WBI.

Eastern is 1-4 all-time in national postseason games.
