Idaho man dies while cleaning flooded basement

KETCHUM, Idaho – An Idaho man has died after being found unconscious while working in the flooded basement of a home.

KTVB-TV reported 54-year-old Mike J. Wirth had been pulled from about six feet of water in the basement on Wednesday.

A rescue team from Blaine County Sheriff’s Office began life-saving procedures before taking Wirth to a hospital.

Wirth had been the owner of a landscape company and was assisting the home’s residents with flooding. The residents had called 911 after hearing him scream for help.

The sheriff’s office had said a cause of death is still undetermined. The death is currently under investigation.
