Prep baseball roundup: West Valley knocked out in 2A crossover game

Xander Orejudos homered and drove in three and Ellensburg defeated visiting West Valley (15-7) 6-3 on Saturday in a 2A Great Northern League/Central Washington Athletic Conference loser-out crossover game.

Orejudos also pitched six solid innings to earn the win for Ellensburg, which advances to state.

Scott South, Cameron Andrews and Connor Whitney recorded two hits apiece for West Valley.

Cheney 2, Othello 1: The Blackhawks (9-11) beat the visiting Huskies in a loser-out crossover game. Cheney advances to state as the District 7 No. 1 seed.

District 7/9 1B

Colton 3, Pomeroy 3: The District 7/9 1B title game at Northwest Christian HS was suspended in the sixth inning due to rain, lightning and darkness.

The game will be picked up on Monday at Asotin HS. Colton had a runner on first with nobody out in the top of the sixth when officials pulled the plug.

Both teams have already qualified for state.

Idaho

Coeur d’Alene 8, Mountain View 3: The Vikings (16-9) beat Mountain View in the 5A District 1-2/3 play-in game to state in Lewiston.

Coeur d’Alene faces Rocky Mountain in Borah on Thursday in the first round of state.
