Bicyclist sustains life-threatening injuries after being hit by a minivan in south of Spokane Valley

A bicyclist sustained life-threatening injuries after being stuck by a vehicle south of Spokane Valley Monday morning.

At about 8:30 a.m. a bicyclist traveling southbound on Dishman Mica Road was struck by a southbound minivan near Madison Road, according to a Spokane County Sheriff’s Office news release. The adult male cyclist was transported from the scene to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the minivan stayed at the scene and has been cooperative, the release states. Impairment did not seem to be a factor in the collision.

The bicyclist was wearing a helmet.
