Mariners Pregame: Robinson Cano activated, lineups and starters

The Seattle Mariners (20-25) travel to the Nation’s Capital to face the Washington Nationals (26-17) in a three-game interleague series at Nationals Park.

The M’s have lost three in a row and are 3-8 in their last 11 games. The Nats are 5-5 in their last 10 games and are 12-7 at home this season. The Nats enjoy a 6 1/2 game lead in the N.L. East over the Atlanta Braves.

The Mariners activated 2B Robinson Cano from the disabled list. Cano is hitting .296 with eight home runs, 28 RBIs, eight doubles and 21 runs.

Transactions: On Monday, the team made a flurry of moves. C Mike Zunino and RHP Emilio Pagan were recalled from AAA-Tacoman while C Tuffy Gosewisch, RHP Chris Heston and INF Dan Vogelbach were optioned to Tacoma. Vogelbach had been called up on Sunday and INF Mike Freeman was optioned. Heston had been called up on Sunday and Dillon Overton sent down.

Since the inception of Interleague play, Seattle has posted a 3.76 ERA, allowing 1,373 earned runs in 3,285.0 innings pitched.
