Whitworth remains undefeated with win over Arcadia

The Whitworth Pirates (4-0) defeated the Arcadia Knights (3-1) 75-66 in the final game of the Hoops in Hawaii Thanksgiving Classic in Honolulu on Saturday night.

Ben College scored 28 points to lead Whitworth, which opens the Northwest Conference season on Friday at Puget Sound.

CC Spokane 101, Olympic 99: Isaiah Gotell scored 23 points off the bench and the Sasquatch (2-0) advanced to the championship game of the Red Devil Classic in Longview, Washington.

The Sasquatch were forced to go to overtime despite leading 52-37 at halftime.

CCS will play Everett in the championship game on Sunday.

Women’s basketball

Washington State fell behind 11-0 but rallied to defeat East Tennessee State 80-76 at the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Florida.

The Cougars drew within 18-15 after one quarter and the game remained closed until WSU put the game away with eight free throws in the closing minutes.

Borislava Hristova led WSU (2-4) with 20 points. ETSU fell to 4-3.

DePaul 88, Gonzaga 71: Chandler Smith scored a career-high 19 points and the Blue Demons made 17 3-pointers to defeat the Bulldogs at the Play4Kay Showcase in Las Vegas.

For Gonzaga, Jill Townsend had 11 points and four rebounds, Jill Barta 10 points and eight rebounds and Zykera Rice 12 points.

Laura Stockton did not play for the second consecutive game for Gonzaga.

The Bulldogs (2-3) play their home opener on Thursday against Eastern Washington. The game will be televised by SWX.

TCU 86, Idaho 76: The Horned Frogs (4-1) overcame a double-digit deficit in the first quarter and went on to defeat the Vandals (2-2) in a consolation game at the Thanksgiving Basketball Classic in Northridge, California.

Taylor Pierce led Idaho with 25 points and Geraldine McCorkell scored 22.

Eastern Washington 61, Utah Valley 41: Hot second-half shooting lifted the Eagles over the visiting Wolverines.

EWU shot 57 percent in the second half and did not miss a free throw after halftime.

Delaney Hodgins led the Eagles with 24 points and Symone Starks scored a season-high 15. Hodgins became the third player in program history to reach 1,500 points. She has 1,523.

(2) Texas 92, Washington 68: Junior Jatarie White was 10 of 12 from the field and scored 24 points along with seven rebounds to lead the Longhorns (5-0) over the Huskies (2-3) at the 92 South Point Shootout in Las Vegas.
