Be aware of your surroundings while backpacking in the rattlesnake country of Hells Canyon National Recreation Area, even during fall. Kurt Killgore said his hunting-hiking companion brushed his hand on this rock and continued ahead without notice the sluggish rattler warming itself a few feet away.
