Second person dies after Sunday crash near Subway

From staff reports

The Spokane County Medical Examiner has confirmed the death of a second person from Sunday’s vehicle-pedestrian crash in front of Subway on North Market Street.

Sheera Cunningham, 41, suffered blunt chest, abdominal and pelvic injuries after she and two other people were hit by a silver sedan driven by 24-year-old Brittney Moen around 7:30 a.m.

All three people were reportedly homeless and asleep when the eastbound vehicle jumped a curb, slamming into the side of a Subway restaurant.

Julius B. Cooper, 38, died on Sunday.

Cooper was transported to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries. Another male was seriously injured and was transported to a hospital. Cunningham was also taken to a hospital, where she was listed in critical condition on Sunday.

Before Cunningham’s death, Moen was arrested for two charges of vehicular assault and one charge of vehicular homicide.
