Silver Mountain reopens Saturday propelled by the never-ending winter

It’s the winter that just won’t end.

And Silver Mountain is taking advantage of it. The Idaho resort will reopen for one day this Saturday.

The mountain has gotten 415 inches of snow so far this year. The current mid-mountain snow pack is 94 inches, according to the resort’s website.

Saturday and Sunday were supposed to be the resort’s final days. Lookout Pass also closed for the season Sunday. Schweitzer closed April 15, Mount Spokane closed April 8 as did 49 Degrees North.

Tickets bought in advance for the added Saturday cost $34.95 for adult and $24.95 for youth. Tickets purchased the day of cost $44.95 for adult and $29.95 for youth.

“The weather looks fantastic, and our coverage is still great,” according to the resort’s Facebook post.

Pass holders from other mountains can purchase tickets for $29.95 on Saturday.

The resort plans to operate chairs 1,2,3,4 and the carpet lift. The terrain park will be open. Lower 4 will open, conditions permitting.

Despite a drier than normal winter in much of the United States, Washington and Idaho have been inundated with snow. Washington’s snow pack was 119 percent of normal, according to Washington State Department of Ecology. Idaho has also seen an above average winter. Northern Idaho’s snow pack has been about 140 percent of normal.
