Keep waiting for Culture: South Perry bread shop opening delayed until mid-May
Fans will have to wait a few more weeks for Culture Breads.
Shaun Thompson Duffy’s bread shop and cafe at the new Grain Shed in Spokane’s South Perry neighborhood is still coming soon.
The artisan bread baker had hoped to have the new bake shop open by the end of April. Now, his tentative opening date is sometime in mid-May.
Construction and other delays have pushed back the start date, which has previously been pushed from January to February, then March and April.
Culture Breads celebrates traditional bread-making: by hand – using ancient, landrace and heirloom grains that are stone-milled on site, naturally leavened and wood-fired. Thompson Duffy’s bread is particularly special because it’s made from grain grown from within 100 miles of the spot where it’s baked into bread.
He plans to offer seven standard loaves, plus one or two specials a couple of days a week. Fridays, he will offer challah, typically made with emmer or spelt.
He also plans to sell freshly milled flours.
