Two killed after car flips, hits tree off Highway 231 in Stevens County

Two people were killed Wednesday afternoon in a one-car crash in southern Stevens County.

Stevens County Cononer Lorrie Sampson said she was called to the scene where a single car had flipped and hit a tree off Ford-Wellpinit Road, about a mile from state Highway 231, at around 3:30 p.m.

All three occupants of the vehicle were ejected, she said. Frankie Jo Andrew, 29, and Aaron Lane Hill, 48, were killed in the accident, Sampson said. The third occupant was transported to a local hospital with injuries.

The crash happened on Spokane Indian Reservation land. A spokesperson with Spokane Tribal Police was not immediately available to comment.

None of the occupants was wearing a seat belt. Seat belts are not required on reservation land.
