Nail salon sprayed with pepper spray Friday
A man has been arrested and police are searching for a juvenile after the pair allegedly sprayed pepper spray into a downtown nail salon Friday afternoon.
Spokane police responded to reports of the incident at the Hi Tek nail salon, located inside the Crescent Court building at 707 W. Main Ave. Witnesses said two males had approached the salon and sprayed pepper spray inside before fleeing on foot, according to a Spokane Police Department news release. People inside the salon complained of burning eyes and skin irritation.
An officer located the two males fleeing down 1st and Lincoln, and pursued them down an alleyway before they attempted to hide in a parking lot. James High, 18, was caught and arrested; the juvenile was able to escape.
High was booked into jail on five counts of third degree assault and one count of possession of a controlled substance. Video footage allowed authorities to identify the juvenile, and a warrant will be submitted for his arrest.
