Boys

Brewster 57, Toutle Lake 41: The Bears shot 22 of 44 from the floor on their way to a fourth-place finish in the State 2B tournament.

Brewster’s Joe Taylor led all scorers with 17 points and added four assists. Kade Kelpman added 11 points and 12 rebounds.

The Ducks ended with their second-lowest scoring output of the season.

Nate Hoff’s 14 points were a team high for Toutle Lake on 5-of-15 shooting.

Brewster took home its 19th state trophy, No. 2 all time, breaking a tie with Reardan and trailing Northwest Christian (29).

Toutle Lake earned its first sixth-place trophy and 13th overall.

Adna 57, Liberty 41: The Lancers led by eight points after the first quarter, but the Pirates outscored Liberty by 25 over the final frames.

The Pirates had big games from Cody Young and Lyle Metzenberg, who had 20 and 18 points, respectively.

Usually a solid 3-point shooting team, the Lancers shot 20 percent, 2 of 10 from distance. Liberty was led by Justin Jeske, who had 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Liberty’s Thomas Redder and Isaak Ottmar struggled, shooting a combined 5 for 21 from the floor.

Adna secured its fifth state trophy and second third-place result.

Liberty earned fifth place for the fifth time in school history and its 12th overall trophy.

Girls

Wahkiakum 50, Ilwaco 49: For the first time all tournament, the Mules looked comfortable on offense. They shot better than 40 percent from the floor (22 for 53) and moved the ball around well. Macie Elliott and Paige Mace led the Mules with 10 points apiece.

Top-seeded Ilwaco ended its tournament run after earning the highest seed in school history. The Fishermen were led by Eliza Bannister and Madeline Jacobson with 13 points apiece.

Ilwaco struggled from the floor, shooting 17 of 55, but the Fishermen hit 10 of 15 from the line to outscore Wahkiakum by six.

Wahkiakum won the fourth-place trophy for the fourth time in school history.

Ilwaco won its second trophy in school history and second in two years.

Saint George’s 50, Napavine 44: The Dragons had an issue with turnovers for the second game in a row, but solid shooting and strong rebounding propelled them to third place.

Mia Smith led St. George’s with 12 points, but it was her fellow frontcourt teammate, Shayla Melendez, who grabbed nine boards to lead both teams.

Melissa Lee scored 29 points to lead the Tigers on 11-for-27 shooting.

The game featured multiple lead changes. Napavine had the lead for most of the game, but the Dragons grabbed it midway through the third quarter and rode the momentum to the finish.

Saint George’s secured it’s 12th state trophy, moving into a tie with Reardan for most among active 2B teams.

Napavine won its first fifth place-finish.
