Reader photo: Northern Lights dance in the sky

Tiffany Hansen captured a barn basking in the beauty of the northern lights on April 19 on the Rathdrum Prairie. Hansen, an avid photographer, had been planning the shoot for a “couple of years,” she said.

The northern lights weren’t fully visible to the naked eye, she said. Instead, it looked like a “hazy band across the sky. Like most people would think it was a cloud.”

But with the right camera and exposure, the ethereal beauty of the lights appeared.
