Gonzaga forward Rui Hachimura was honored as the WCC player of the week.

Hachimura poured in 33 points against Idaho State, the most by a Zag in a season opener since Ronny Turiaf’s 33 against Portland State in the 2004 season. Hachimura added 17 points in 20 minutes in Saturday’s victory over Texas Southern.

Hachimura made 20 of 31 shots and 10 of 14 free throws. He’s scored 50 points in just 44 minutes of playing time. He’s averaging 5.0 rebounds per game.
