College golf: Co-medalists Kirsten Ishikawa, Alexa Clark guide Eastern Washington’s women to team title

Co-medalists Kirsten Ishikawa and Alexa Clark led Eastern Washington to the team title Tuesday at The Challenge at the Coeur d’Alene Resort.

Ishikawa, a senior, and Clark, a sophomore, finished two rounds at 3-over-par 147, two shots ahead of teammate Madalyn Ardueser and Montana State’s Kelly Hooper.

The host Eagles finished at 17-over 593 for a 17-shot edge on runner-up Montana State.

EWU, champion at last week’s Battle at Old Works in Anaconda, Montana, won back-to-back tournaments for the first time since 1996.

Clark was also medalist at the Battle at Old Works.

Men

Washington State placed 11th and Idaho took 14th in the 17-team field at the Rams Masters Invitational at Fort Collins (Colorado) Country Club.

Idaho’s Enrique Marin tied for 15th at 3-over 213, finishing with his second consecutive 73. WSU’s AJ Armstrong was another two shots back and tied for 25th.

WSU finished at 31-over 871, 35 shots behind champion Colorado State. Idaho shot 885.

Wyoming’s Dan Starzinski was medalist at 11-under 199, seven shot up on the field.
