Bloomsday founder Don Kardong honored with Darkness and Chaos ice cream

To honor Bloomsday founder and race director Don Kardong, who is retiring after the 2019 race, the Lilac Bloomsday Association has teamed up with Sweet Peaks Ice Cream to create a specialty ice cream for him.

Darkness and Chaos, a huckleberry chocolate swirl ice cream, is available now at Sweet Peaks’ Spokane location and will be available through May.

Runners and ice cream fans alike will receive a discount on the specialty ice cream today, and Kardong will scoop ice cream from noon-1 p.m. today at Sweet Peaks, 415 W. Main Ave.

The name of the ice cream is inspired by a quotation from Kardong: “Without ice cream, there would be darkness and chaos.”
