Two women die in collision on 395 near Hatton Coulee Rest Area

Two people died and others were injured in a head on collision after a car driving the wrong way on Highway 395 near Hatton hit another vehicle.

Ramona Gonzales, 57, from Spokane was driving a Toyota Prius the wrong way at about 6 p.m. when it hit an oncoming minivan. Gonzales died on scene.

The crash occurred near the Hatton Coulee Rest Area.

Jessica Cody, 36, from Ritzville, a minivan passenger, also died on scene.

Also in the minivan were three children ages 5, 7, and 12. The two younger children were transported to Sacred Heart while the third was taken to East Adams Rural Hospital. Everyone in the minivan was wearing their seat belt.

The driver of the minivan, Jeremiah Cody, 34, was injured and taken to East Adams Rural Hospital.
