Gonzaga’s Rui Hachimura named to Wooden Award late-season watch list

Gonzaga’s Rui Hachimura is one of 20 players on the Wooden Award’s late-season watch list.

The Wooden Award is presented to the top player in college basketball. A panel of 1,000 voters will select the Wooden Award winner as well as the Wooden Award All American team.

Hachimura leads the Zags at 20.4 points per game and he’s second in rebounding at 6.4. The 6-foot-8 junior forward is shooting 60.6 percent from the floor, 45.8 percent on 3-pointers and 73 percent at the free-throw line.

The ACC has five players on the list, followed by the Big Ten with four. The Big 12, Big East, Mountain West, and SEC have two apiece. The Ohio Valley and Summit League join the WCC with one each.

Schools with two representatives: Duke (RJ Barrett and Zion Williamson), Nevada (Jordan Caroline and Caleb Martin), Tennessee (Admiral Schofield and Grant Williams) and Virginia (Kyle Guy and De’Andre Hunter).
