A 2-year-old boy died in a house fire in Sandpoint early Saturday morning.
Two adults in the house awoke to flames around 12:30 a.m. The house, at 620 E. Mountain View Drive, was engulfed, according to a news release from the city of Sandpoint. The adults escaped out a second story window before calling for help.
Minutes later, firefighters arrived and were told the boy was upstairs. They eventually reached the boy in his bedroom, but he was already deceased, according to the news release.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by a state fire marshal, according to the news release.
